Omega, true to their brand excellence, have produced yet another winning juicer. Good enough to compare to the J8003 and the J8005, the Omega J8006 Nutrition Center Single-Gear Commercial Masticating Juicer comes top of the range. It will not grind coffee or mince, but as far as juicers go, it’s the best you can get. It’s designed to give juice with minimal nutrient loss. So if you’re looking for an Omega to just juice, you’ve found it.

Let’s see just what it’s got:

1. Unlike most new-model juicers, this one works at a low speed of 80 RPMs; other models will come with as high as high as 400 RPMs. The advantage of the slow speed is that during juicing, all nutrients are retained and you get the most out of your fruit or vegetables.
2. The slow speed also means no foaming – if you prefer your fresh juice not to have any foam, this is the juicer to go for.
3. Since it works at low rotation speeds, it means that your juice comes out cool enough to drink straight away. With high speed juicers, because the juice gets turned around quite a bit in the juicing process, it tends to come out a bit warm and you may have to chill it a little before you drink it.
4. It comes with an auto pulp ejecting function that allows continuous juicing – you don’t have to stop to get rid of pulp and then continue to juice. The pulp goes into a pulp bin and you can either throw it out or use it for soups.
5. It comes with a built-in auto-reversal system. If any bits get past without being crushed and juiced, they are reversed back into the crusher. Nothing gets past and that means you get a smooth juice in the end.
6. Its quiet – most juicers sound like a lawn mower in your kitchen – this one wont.
7. It’s highly efficient. The way to know a good juicer is to check how dry the pulp is. Wet pulp is a sign of poor efficiency – most of the juice gets left in the pulp. A good juicer will give you pulp that is completely dry.

There’s only one con to this juicer, and that’s the fact that you have to dice everything in advance of juicing. It comes with a small feeding tube, about 1.5” wide so most fruit and veggies will have to be in small pieces to go in there.

Other than that, it comes highly recommended, especially for those who don’t need to make a glass of juice in a big rush; this is probably the best that you can get. In fact, for your mom or grandma, or your old aunt, who usually have time on their hands and would do well with a glass of fresh juice often, why don’t you get them one as a gift?
